All calculator arithmetic runs in your browser. Results are estimates based on the inputs shown on the page.
Balance sheets
Total net worth adds the entered asset values and subtracts entered debt balances. Liquid net worth applies the stated investment haircut, excludes illiquid assets and subtracts all liabilities. Negative results are retained.
Growth and contributions
Growth tools use a nominal annual rate divided by 12. They compound monthly and add deposits at month-end. The projection tool treats debt separately, adds interest and then subtracts a monthly payment. Debt is floored at zero. Other assets stay constant. Taxes and fees are excluded.
At zero interest, the formulas use contribution-only arithmetic. The millionaire tool searches month by month for at most 1,200 months. The savings-goal tool solves for a fixed contribution over the selected period.
Inflation
The projection divides future nominal net worth by (1 + annual inflation) raised to elapsed years. The millionaire and savings targets are nominal amounts.
Age comparison source
Federal Reserve 2025 Survey of Consumer Finances, Table 2, released October 2026. Amounts are family net worth in 2025 dollars and age refers to the family reference person. The tool displays published age groups, not exact-age percentiles.
Rounding and exports
Screen amounts round to whole dollars. Calculations retain internal precision. Downloads use the units and columns identified in each tool. Small differences can result from rounding or a different deposit/compounding convention.
